i won't be taking part as i can't eat beef ...
good luck to all eaters .. let's have all our guys getting through to the finals ...
Victor, hope u still have the momentum from the GoGo Curry win ...
come on guys, do us proud ..
i agree with foodie... but i cant stop guys from takiung part together.. do let me knows who is interested in the Sat qualifier.. so far i only know me, steven, kenneth, kent will be going.. Chin Seng on standby..
like i say earlier i wanted all our guys to be in the finals n save on the $10 registration fee per time.. and BJ had not let us know the exact terms and conditions hoping tat it will be like last yr where if u fail in the location qualifier, u still can go other outlets for participation
Dear all, whether u are taking part or not, please wear your t-shirt if u want to take photos with the world champions [ and have your own cameras ready in case mine fails ].
Those going for the finals, think it's better to bring the original t-shirt they issued to us for the heats on standby even though they will be issuing us another shirt in case we dirty our shirts on stage, not convenient to be wearing a un-clean shirt for photo shoot after that also.
Newcomer, have to take note. How many members are in the finals ? Maybe can do an highlighted list ?
Just wondering if all contestants will be split into qualifying rounds, with only the top person of each round qualifying for the final? Not top 10 overall of all contestants on that day?
-----
The top 15 contestants (10 male and 5 female) from each local heats will be eligible to take part in the finals. These 30 contestants will be chosen based on the most amount of food consumed within the allotted time. Only the person who wins a qualifyin

Note that the qualifying dates are the same as the CP wanton event, and the finals one day earlier than the CP wanton's May 9 finals.
So it's a case of choosing one versus the other, but those of us from here going with a female partner should be able to easily grab at least the 2nd prize, considering the field is limited to couples only so less people to contend with.
But
Hi pple,
The finals at sutera has ended yesterday.
The two people finished 15 bowls in 8 mins. Thus triggering a sudden death match of 2 bowls. "who finished the fastest wins". winner get 1000 RM.
The man finished two bowls in 14 secs, thus beating Chin Sheng (2nd). Second gets 700 RM
Zack finished 14 bowls in 8 mins (3rd). Third gets 500RM
Fourth - finished 12 bowls. The rest gets 100RM voucher.
The rest finished 8 - 11 bowls.
Good works guys, celebrate the mome
i heard from mstr the competition finals = 8 mins.
Who wants to win ? 8 = 24 bowls, the max based on 3 bowls per min.
Looks like puking will be present tomorrow.. hehehe
They were also strict with rules, obviously very experienced in organizing eating events:
- no using of utensils other than those provided by them
- no drinking or with drinking water on standby on stage while competing [ but can ask for it after leaving the stage ]
- only 1 pair of chopsticks to be used at any one time even though 2 were provided, the extra pair to be used only when contestants drop the 1st pair on the floor
- n
Hi pple,
We registered at 1030am.
The contest started at 3.30pm, each interval 5 mins.
5 contestants at one time.
Total: 50people
The food = small portion of ramen with onion and bean sprout.
4 bowls per tray.
The competition fairly organised, takes some planning with food preparations and delivery to the table.
The highest bowls consumed is 9 and half bowl.
The rest of our group, finished 8 bowls.
The objective to get into the fina
Mstr, foodie, skydg, and zack(Myself) have qualified for the finals next saturday. Jia yiou and congrats..
Sorry, didn't notice Zack has already posted what I smsed everyone earlier, but just to add a few more minor details for new members and those who are not going as the info below was already sent to those taking part.
- Contestants going into finals will get another voucher [ in additional to the 50RM voucher earlier ]
- next round will start once the tables are cleared
I should let the name of the competition to be decided by the organisers.
@Foodie: I let you guys know the avaliable slots in the finals when I have the info.
@All: Please let me know if you have any food allergies or religious consideration.
Assuming a registration booth is available on Heats day itself [ that means the amount of food to be prepared is also unknown, and unpredictable, unless there is one whole truck of wantons on standby ], and not before that, will there be t-shirts issued on that day ? Or only those going to finals will get t-shirts [ after heats event has ended then ask those who qualified for shirt sizes ] ?
- if t-shirts are issued on that day to those who register on the spot on Heats day, wouldn't it cost
hey Zack , is it possible for us to take part in the heats for
the other food categories as well ?.. like that got more chance of
making the finals right ...
That's great, but next time round it will be at least double this year's winning record just to qualify in the finals, if those top guys from IFOCE and AICE show up [ and especially Japan ]. Won't be as easy as 13 hotdogs...
Hi bros,
I think the sending of SMS is a "lucky draw" to select 6 qualifiers to compete the finals on 8 October.
The qualifying period is from 5-7 October 2009. Does it mean that if we dun send the SMS, we can still qualify by going to the Paulaner directly... Can anyone here confirm this?
If not much information given, how about going to Paulaner as a group? People will watch us speed drinking.... How about putting your available times here..
In summary,
Competition - on-site:
- poor refereeing [ clearly mentioned by emcee not allowed to lift the tub to drink yet a certain team did that very early anyway ]
- poor time keeping [ contestants have no clear idea what was the time at any time / no digital display / no regular updates of time ]
- no assignment of competition marshalls to every team to observe if they flout the rules / finish completely etc...
&nbs
Foodie in the finals they use hands...not scoops
Foodie, thanks for the suggestion. We'll keep that in view.
Contestants please be reminded that the finals would be on this Saturday at 12pm. Guys, you can still join the prelims tomorrow on 4th September 09 (Friday). It would be the last day for the try-outs.
